Course summary
Year 12 begins with workshops to introduce and embed the use of different tools and machinery with an emphasis on Architecture and Product Design. Students will then choose an area of interest to develop into a Personal Investigation. Students start working on Component 1 - Personal Investigation (60% of overall outcome). In Year 13 students will bring their Personal Investigation to a conclusion. They will then work on a practical exam project which has been set by the exam board. Component 2 – Externally set assignment (40% of overall outcome). Assessment Both Component 1 and 2 are assessed against four assessment objectives: • AO1: Develop ideas through investigations informed by contextual and other sources. • AO2: Explore and select appropriate resources, materials, techniques, and processes. • AO3: Record ideas and observations, reflecting critically on work and progress. • AO4: Present a personal and response that realises intentions.
