Course summary

1st-year course description: This course begins with an introduction designed to build on and develop students’ recording skills and demonstrate skilful use of the formal elements, including line, tone, colour, shape, pattern, texture, form and structure. In developing these skills, students will experiment with a wide range of media and methods, learning how to transform materials in order to reflect the different qualities of their observed forms and images. Unit 1 – Based on the internally set theme. Unit 2 – Internally set exam theme. 2nd-year course description: Unit 3 - Based on the theme of ‘Human Form or identity’ and includes a 1500-word essay. Unit 4 - Externally set theme by the Exam Board.
