Assessment

Component 1: Devising (40% of the qualification) 80 Marks. In this unit you will devise an original performance piece based on one key extract from a performance text and a theatre practitioner as stimuli. There are two parts to the assessment: • A portfolio ( 60 marks) • The devised performance or design realisation (20 marks) Component 2: Text in Performance (20% of the qualification) 60 Marks. In this unit you will be assessed on the following: • A group performance or design realisation of one key aspect from a performance text (36 marks) • A monologue/duologue performance or design realisation of one key extract from a different performance text (24 marks) Component 3: Theatre Makers in Practice (40% of the qualification) Written Examination; 2 hours 30 minutes, 80 marks. In this unit you will prepare for the examination on the following: • Live theatre evaluation of a play attended during the course • Practical exploration and study of two performance texts focusing on how these can be realised in performance. One of these set texts will be studied in light of a theatre practitioner and the focus will be on how this can be reimagined for a contemporary audience • Section A: Live Theatre Evaluation (20 marks) • Section B: Page to Stage: Realising a Performance Text (36 marks) • Section C: Interpreting a Performance Text (24 marks)
