Welcome Message
Chief Executive Officer's Welcome
Our mission is simple: to connect you with exciting, aspirational careers.
We send you out into the world armed with excellent qualifications as well as the skills and work experience to make you stand out against your competitors. Whether you're planning to go to university, become an apprentice or enter the world of work, you'll have the edge to succeed.
We focus on careers - not just qualifications.
By making careers pathways central to our ethos, we make sure your end goal or career choice is considered from day one. Both our A-Levels and our Professional courses have clear progression routes to university - and we take these routes into account before your studies begin.
Instead of focusing on individual courses picked at random, we cluster qualifications into complimentary groups. We then teach you in ways designed to ensure that the skills you develop in your studies match the skills you'll need for your future.
Giving you the skills employers want.
With our career pathways you'll also engage in wider study and professional development, gaining communication, IT and soft skills, career-sector specific insights, plus work-ready attitudes and behaviours.
As a result of extensive research, we know what employers are looking for. We have a good understanding of the kinds of jobs that are out there at a local and national level. And we've established excellent relationships with employers in Essex, which benefit both our students and the local community.
You deserve to start adult life with the skills you need to be a success. And if you join us, that's what you can look forward to.

University
I am currently studying English at Royal Holloway University, which has honestly been a dream come true. I do not think I would have ever made it without the support I received from the staff at USP College. During my last year at USP College, I was appointed the position of Student Governor, and the previous year I became Student Champion for Charity and Social. The Charity and Social role helped me keep my creative side alive, by hosting charity events and raising money for charities. I honestly loved every minute of this role, especially as I constantly got to work with Suzanne Perry in Student Services. My Student Governor position really took me out of my comfort zone, as I was faced with the role of being the voice of students. I was given the unforgettable opportunity of working with Senior Members of Staff, in discussing future plans for the College. Now about my novel, I could talk about it for hours. The novel initially started as a hobby but then I heard about the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) that USP College offered, so I decided to actually write my novel, and make a project out of it, whilst also getting a qualification for it. My novel is called “The Life We Live With Our Eyes Closed,” and the concept of the novel began when I started writing down my dreams on my phone. One day, I decided to write a story out of one of them and I was really happy with how it turned out. I then wrote another one and applied with them for my EPQ. I have written 8 chapters, all with different storylines, characters, and themes, and the complete novel includes a few poems I have written, Spotify playlists for each chapter and the original dreams which inspired each chapter. Unfortunately, the novel is not published anywhere yet. Although I am trying to get it published on Amazon, then try to approach bigger publishing houses. In the future, I hope to go into publishing, and this project has truly helped me learn about how much detail goes on behind the scenes after it’s finished.

Employed
The best part was the College always pushed me to reach my goals and did what they could to help me achieve them in the process. From the outset my course tutors and progress coaches helped me to research and pass my units so that I could pursue a career in education. Even the College Principal & CEO, Dan Pearson, offered me a full day to shadow him so that I could gain a real sense of the educational workplace especially within leadership. Sadly, during my first year at the College, I suffered some health issues. Even then the College were on hand to ensure that I received the best care and put a comprehensive plan in place for when I returned. Last summer I left USP College having gained an Extended National Diploma in Performing Arts and also having secured my pass in GCSE Maths. These qualifications combined have allowed me to pursue my career within education and as such I am now working at a local secondary school within Safeguarding and Wellbeing, something that the College always pushed me to achieve. Overall, I simply wouldn’t be in this privileged position today without the help, dedication and kindness from my teachers, senior leaders, and everyone associated with the College. Thanks to USP, I now have a bright future ahead of me and I will always be eternally grateful for that.
Enrichment Activities
Show all activitiesAt College, your main study programme is just the beginning. Our career-focused courses are designed to give you real-world experience, from getting stuck into live projects with our College Companies to gaining valuable insights on Student CPD Days and through work placements. You’ll be working towards your qualification, of course, but there’s so much more to college life than just lessons. It’s about growing as a person, building confidence, and discovering what you're capable of. Our students love that – and so did Ofsted! They rated us outstanding for personal development in our latest inspection. You may have some breaks in your timetable, whilst these are perfect opportunities for revision and completing coursework, they are also a great chance to engage in our enrichment activities. We have a wide range of clubs, sport academies and extra-curricular activities, and the best part is, the range of enrichment activities we run is influenced by our students! Each year our students let us know what they want to see on-campus, or what they would like to take part in, some students even run their own groups! View our Enrichment Timetable Trips and visits Our students are able to take some fantastic trips and visits during their time at College. Students have recently visited Auschwitz as part of an educational trip on Holocaust Memorial Day, others went on a trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in a trip fully funded by the government's Turing scheme. Other trips include one to the Big Apple, a conservation trip to Africa and a 28 day excursion to Tanzania just to name a few!
As well as the day-to-day activities that happen on campus (or the incredible trips), you are also able to get involved in our Student Union (the real people behind all of the fantastic activities on campus). Each year a team of Student Champions are nominated and selected to be the voice of the students. They meet regularly to discuss student life, what they would like to see more of and what changes they could make to enhance the experience for all students. Each Champion works with a dedicated College Manager to make sure that these things happen.
