Apprenticeship
Izma decided fairly early on in her College career that a Degree Apprenticeship was what she wanted to do when she left Cardinal Newman. She worked extremely hard and applied for 25 different Degree Apprenticeships with different companies and was offered places with four different companies before finally choosing to go with Barclays. She chose the Digital Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship at Barclays as it most closely aligned with what she wants to do in the future, working in a Tech Analyst job and as a big multinational corporation, with lots of opportunities for progression. She will be starting in the Threat Intelligence Team in Knutsford, at their enormous technology centre. Speaking about her time at Cardinal Newman, Izma said: “The support from teachers helped to push me to strive for what I wanted to achieve. I chose Newman because I didn’t feel like I would just be a number. The student experience is tailored here, it’s the best thing about Newman.”

Apprenticeship
During his time at Cardinal Newman Allen got involved in all of the opportunities that were available to him. He was able to take part in the Stratcom programme, which enabled him to network with industry leaders and develop his knowledge and skills within the sector. He was also able to take part in competitions like the Right Angle Maths Challenge, which further developed his confidence and skills. After achieving an amazing A*A*A*A* in his A-Levels, Allen has now started an Apprenticeship at BAE in Software Engineering. Speaking about his time at Newman, Allen said: “I love the number of study zones in the College, which means there is always somewhere to go. The staff are always available to give you support when you need it.”

Speaking about her time at College, Poppi said: “I love the sense of community at Newman, I have never really felt lonely here and have made so many new friends. I will take away so many memories, experiences and friends for life from my time here.”

Students receive additional dance training alongside their Sixth Form studies. They are involved in technique classes, choreographic sessions and performance rehearsals.
It is also possible to take the Arts Award, which is a chance for students to get involved in the arts in a more hands-on way. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the art world through research and volunteering/training projects, as well as producing original artwork and/or performance pieces.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is an Achievement Award available to 14 – 25 year olds. It is highly regarded by both Universities and Employers, which is nationally and internationally recognised. You achieve your Award by completing a personal programme of activities at one of three different levels; Bronze, Silver and Gold. There are 5 sections which need to be completed at each level – Volunteering, Physical, Skill, Expedition and Residential.
