I applied through ApplicaaOne last year and successfully got admission to Newstead wood sixth form, one for premier grammar school in the country. The process was smooth and easy to follow, which took a lot of stress out of the application stage. Since joining, I’ve really valued: I got Gold medal for British Physics Olympiad and Bronze award for Astro Physics Teaching quality – lessons are clear, engaging, and well-structured. The labs are amazing Student support – teachers and staff are approachable and always willing to help with both academic and personal guidance. Facilities – from classrooms to study spaces, everything is well-equipped for learning. Enrichment opportunities – plenty of clubs and activities to get involved in outside of lessons. Overall experience – it’s been a positive transition, and I feel more confident about my future. I’d definitely recommend future Year 11s to apply here if they’re looking for strong support and good opportunities. Aamish Shine

FAQs

What grades must I achieve to be eligible to enter the Sixth Form?

You must achieve a minimum of 8 GCSE passes in one exam season. Four of these must be at grade 6 or above. The other four must be at grade 7 or above. You must have achieved at least a 6 in Maths and English.

If my grades mean I am eligible to enter the Sixth Form, do I need specific grades to study the courses I am interested in?

Yes - please look at our GCSE Grade Requirements list on our website. For many subjects you will need at least a grade 7 in the subject you wish to study. Some courses will also require 7 or above in other subjects.

Are there any extra curricular activities on offer?

Absolutely - please look at the Enrichment section of this page for more information.

Is there a catchment area for the Sixth Form?

No - there is no restriction on where you live. We expect all students to be on site from 8.35am to 3.35pm every day and therefore you would need to plan your commute accordingly.
