Skegness Grammar School not only drove my academic success but also shaped me personally and professionally. As Head Girl, I developed leadership skills and saw the importance of a supportive school environment. My passion for science was nurtured alongside encouragement in all subjects, allowing me to pursue my childhood dream of becoming a Forensic Scientist. University was the right path for me—I earned a BSc (Hons) in Forensic Science, covering areas such as crime scene investigation, analytical chemistry, anthropology, and nuclear forensics. As a Forensic Scientist, I work with police, labs, and courts to deliver justice, from evidence collection to expert witness testimony. Though I didn’t earn the title at SGS, the foundation I built there made it all possible. The school’s Careers provision played a crucial role in guiding my choices. Informative sessions and one-on-one support helped me explore forensic science and understand the steps I needed to take. The confidence, curiosity, and resilience I gained at SGS continue to guide me in my career. My education taught me not just facts, but how to think critically and act ethically. SGS gave me more than an education—it gave me purpose.

I believe my time at SGS was instrumental in developing the core skills I rely on every day—tact, confidence, effective communication, and quick problem-solving. In my current role, I attend spinal surgeries as a representative for spinal implants and their associated navigation and robotic platforms. This gives me the opportunity to observe procedures in real time and assist clinicians with surgical planning and implant selection. In many ways, I serve as a walking, talking instruction manual for Globus Medical’s spine-specific implants. I find this work incredibly fulfilling, as it offers immediate impact on patient outcomes and ongoing collaboration with surgeons to track progress. Ultimately, I consider myself very fortunate to truly love what I have - a career path that began with the strong foundation and support I received at Skegness Grammar School.
