Welcome to Ysgol Glan Clwyd

It is with pleasure that I present this website so that you can get a taste of the exciting life of the Glan Clwyd High School family.Ysgol Glan Clwyd is the oldest Welsh language school in Wales and it was established as a result of the initiative and innovation of the residents of the area by 1956. The vision of our mates and their zeal for the language and its future is just as important and relevant to us today in our day to day work at Ysgol Glan Clwyd. The Welsh language is a treasure to be shared and this confirms our true purpose as a school as we ensure that our pupils thrive through the medium of Welsh and own it completely as part of their identity.By now the school has long settled into its new building which is full of excellent resources and which meets the educational requirements of the twenty-first century. The true success of the past period of change is that over a thousand pupils are now following their education through the medium of Welsh and each one will be an asset to the future of Wales and beyond. Our aim is to nurture progressive Welsh people in an atmosphere where respect and kindness guide our daily dealings with each other. This means that we always come together as a family to achieve the best and to support each other. Despite our size as a school, that core knowledge of our pupils is key and our active and caring staff ensure that the best support is available on every occasion. At Ysgol Glan Clwyd we promote that responsibility that comes from being part of the special family of a school like this, devoting ourselves to being proud and ambitious, creative and enterprising members who value keeping healthy. It is nice to be able to turn away from a period that has been very challenging for society and all educational institutions due to Covid and look forward to the future with confidence. Before concluding – I would like to emphasize how important you are to us as parents and how crucial your support is. When that collaboration between us as a school and you as parents is at its best - that's when the magic happensTogether we can succeed in ensuring that the next few years are prosperous, happy and prosperous for everyone.

The Welsh Baccalaureate is very important here at YGC6 and was
invaluable to Owain John for a place at Liverpool University.
The theme of his work was ‘ To what extent do the modern genetic
methods affect the quality of prices of livestock within the agricultural
industry? ‘ This piece of work did
demonstrate excellent organisational, analytical and research skills.
Owain was always involved in all aspects of life in the 6th form,
a member on the School Council singing in choirs. Owain firmly
believes that participating in the extracurricular activities at school is
an extremely important part of 6th form life and a meaningful way of
learning many new skills and representing the school. Owain has also represented the School by competing individually in
the Urdd Eisteddfodau over the years, and has been a national winner
in numerous competitions. Owain was elected Head Boy, and in his
capacity he had to take on a number of roles as well as helping to restructure the School Council.
Owain John achieved 12 A * / A in his GCSEs, and then went on to
study towards to his A levels.
Ysgol Glan Clwyd was the only option in his mind to achieve
