The Welsh Baccalaureate is very important here at YGC6 and was
invaluable to Owain John for a place at Liverpool University.
The theme of his work was ‘ To what extent do the modern genetic
methods affect the quality of prices of livestock within the agricultural
industry? ‘ This piece of work did
demonstrate excellent organisational, analytical and research skills.
Owain was always involved in all aspects of life in the 6th form,
a member on the School Council singing in choirs. Owain firmly
believes that participating in the extracurricular activities at school is
an extremely important part of 6th form life and a meaningful way of
learning many new skills and representing the school. Owain has also represented the School by competing individually in
the Urdd Eisteddfodau over the years, and has been a national winner
in numerous competitions. Owain was elected Head Boy, and in his
capacity he had to take on a number of roles as well as helping to restructure the School Council.
Owain John achieved 12 A * / A in his GCSEs, and then went on to
study towards to his A levels.
Ysgol Glan Clwyd was the only option in his mind to achieve
outstanding grades and in Summer 2021 he received 3A * and 1A at A
Level (Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics and Bac).
Owain is now studying Veterinary Medicine at the University of
