Course summary

If you have ever watched the TV and seen pictures of events happening in the world today, you will almost certainly have asked yourself at some point: ‘what on earth is that about?’ Without knowledge of what has gone before, it is virtually impossible to comprehend the world in which we live. History is the study of people, places and events in the past. It has relevance beyond simple dates and facts. How can we truly know ourselves without some idea of where we have come from and what has shaped our society and culture? The study of History develops a range of skills such as enquiry, research, synthesis and the ability to communicate ideas effectively through discussion and writing. You will acquire transferable skills which will be invaluable in many careers including commerce, law, Public Service, education and accountancy.
