Welcome to Saltash Community School
I am delighted to welcome you to Saltash Sixth Form. Our Sixth Form is a vibrant and thriving community at the heart of our school and our local area, where students are leaders and are aspirational, both in learning and in life. Sixth Form study is about a love of learning and a thirst for knowledge, but is also about growing independence. Here at Saltash that is supported by excellent facilities and a range of outstanding support structures. Students choose their personalised pathway from an exciting range of Level 3 courses, both traditional A Levels, and other Level 3 qualifications, and benefit from a strong super-curricular offer. Sixth Form study at Saltash is built around fostering aspirations and supporting students move on to the best and most exciting post 18 destinations. Our careers guidance is comprehensive, with life skills, 1:1 post 18 choices support, and expert Oxbridge, Medicine and Veterinary Medicine pathway support. Pastoral care is built in to our Sixth Form provision, with a dedicated Sixth Form tutor team and excellent links to local youth organisations. We offer teaching through small class sizes, ensuring all students receive tailored, high-quality teaching, high levels of feedback and a truly bespoke learning experience. At Saltash Sixth Form students live out our school ethos of ‘broad horizons and confident leaders’ with learning that goes beyond the classroom and leadership roles amongst our student body. We are proud to work in partnership with local universities and to run trips across the curriculum. Alongside their studies at Saltash, Sixth Formers are both role models and leaders amongst our students, becoming Subject Leaders, Mental Health Ambassadors, Peer Readers, or taking up roles on our Head Student Team. When students leave Saltash Community School and go on to their fabulous post 18 destinations, they do so with confidence in themselves as young adults, as well as in themselves as learners. We are excited to welcome you here for this next exciting stage of your journey! Emma Metters - Head of Sixth Form

I attended Saltash Community School from 2008 - 2015 and
studied Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at A level.
The efforts of the teachers and pastoral staff along with the
supportive and safe learning environment allowed me to thrive
personally and academically, resulting in me achieving my goal of
becoming a doctor.
I now work as a Junior Doctor at University Hospitals, Plymouth NHS
Trust, having studied at Peninsula Medical School for six years.

I studied French, German and English Literature in the Sixth Form at
Saltash Community School.
I was always passionate about languages and the Sixth Form gave
me the opportunity to fully embrace learning a language including
multiple trips abroad and a truly immersive learning experience. My
time in the Sixth Form was fantastic and it gave me all the tools to
succeed at higher education. It was a fantastic environment to
learn and develop.
I subsequently attended Cardiff University and studied Law and
French and achieved a 2.1 degree which ultimately enabled me to
progress and qualify as a Solicitor. I know that I would not have been
able to do this without the support of the Sixth Form.

At Saltash Community School I studied A-levels in Biology,
Psychology, Chemistry, and Maths (AS). I went on to study a
Degree: BSc (Hons) Veterinary Physiotherapy at Harper Adams
University.
After I graduated in September 2019, I started setting up
my own Veterinary Physiotherapy business. I am now a selfemployed Canine and Equine Veterinary Physiotherapist
working alongside Vets and Hydrotherapists in the area.
Sixth Form at Saltash was a really important time for me in
deciding what I wanted to do and how I was going to get
there. I had great academic and developmental support from
all the staff around me, and I made some friendships that will
last a lifetime!
